Shortlisted documentary nominated for OscarThe American film Academy has announced the shortlist of eight documentary short films competing for the Oscar. They were chosen from 31 filed applications.The number of nominees from three to five will be announced along with the nominees in the other categories, January 22. The ceremony itself will take place on February 22.And, in fact, the list of nominees:"Conscience is Mute Ena" /Conscience of Nhem En, The/, directed by Steven Okazaki (Oscar for documentary short films "Days of waiting"), an essay of the history of Cambodia;"David Maccalla: Painting with words", directed by mark Herzog, documentary portrait of the historian who wrote "John Adams" miniseries based on which gathered a rich harvest Emmy this year;"Downstream" /Downstream/, Director Leslie Iwerks (nominee 2006 for "Recycled life"), on the influence of processing of oil sand on the lives of the native inhabitants of Canada;"The final inch" /Final Inch, The/, directed by Irene Taylor Brodzik, chronicle attempts to defeat polio;"Smile Pinky" /Smile Pinki/, Director Megan Milan, a story about an Indian girl with a hare-lip;"Love Toni", directed by ruby Yang (nominee 2006 for the film "the Blood of the district of Ingo"), about gays in China;"Viva la Causa", directed by bill Brummel and Alonzo Filomeno, the history of the "grape strike" under the leadership of Chavez and Dolores Huerta;"The witness from the balcony of room 306" /Witness From the Balcony of Room 306, The/, directed by Adam Piotrowski, the story of Reverend Samuel "Billy" Kalesa about his encounter with Martin Luther king, witness to the murder of which he became.
